When the Department of Paediatric Anaesthesia at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH) reached out for 100 play kits for Pain Awareness Week 2025, the Smolboss founders, Elizabeth and Benjamin, lit up with purpose. They knew this was a wonderful way to spark joy and creativity for young patients while raising awareness about the importance of pain management in their healing journey.

But what followed was two intense weeks of dedicated effort.

A Family Effort Amidst School Commitments

With Weighted Assessment week looming, Elizabeth and Benjamin had very little free time. Still, they carved out every spare moment for this loving project. After school, instead of playing, they carefully packed kits, sometimes still in their uniforms.

On weekends, packing continued right up until bedtime. Surrounded by boxes, baubles, and adorable pet figures, they stayed focused on making each kit uniquely full of joy.

Pets in a Bauble, Handcrafted with Childhood Joy

These “Pets in a Bauble” mini sensory kits are inspired and lovingly made by the founders themselves. Each bauble includes a charming animal nestled in a cozy habitat, inviting children to explore, imagine, and design their own tiny worlds. Ideal for playful, open-ended fun, these kits bring a little piece of the founders’ childhood creativity into each play session.

This marks the second year Smolboss has contributed to KKH Pain Awareness Week, following their first donation in 2024 (read here).

More Than Just Kits

Each bauble holds more than just craft supplies. It carries the hope of offering a child at KKH a comforting escape, a spark of imagination, and a reminder that healing can include playful, creative moments.
