Smol Boss volunteered at a nursing home, and it was a very different experience from what we’re used to at Active Aging Centres.
At Active Aging Centres, the seniors are usually more active. they can walk around, join activities, and chat with us easily. But at the nursing home, many of the seniors were less mobile, some were in wheelchairs or lying in bed, and a few seemed more forgetful or weak. It made us realise that they need a different kind of care – gentle, quiet, and full of patience.

We worked with the seniors to make herbal hammer massagers, filled with Mugwort that smell nice and help with blood circulation. These little tools can be used to gently tap sore muscles, especially helpful for seniors who sit or lie down for long hours. We guided them step by step and even helped those who couldn’t make it on their own.

Something that really touched us happened as we were leaving. The lift doors opened, and we saw an elderly lady hugging a small, old doll. It was not in great shape. We asked a staff member about it, and she told us that some seniors find great comfort in holding soft toys. It gives them a sense of peace and reminds them of something precious.

That gave us an idea. 💡
We want to gather our friends to collect and donate new soft toys with weighted beads, which feel comforting and grounding to hug.
If you’d like to be part of this meaningful project, drop us a message! Let’s bring a little extra comfort to someone who needs it.
