Chinese New Year Celebration

Hi! I’m Benjamin, the Smoler Boss. Yesterday, I joined a craft session at THK nursing home, facilitated by Little Changemakers with some amazing CSR volunteers.

When I first arrived, I was a little nervous because I didn’t know what to do. But then I saw all the colourful art supplies – paints, brushes, bags, and flowers! It looked like so much fun, and I couldn’t wait to get started.

We started the day with a little dance warm-up to a Chinese New Year song. It was so fun to move around and see everyone clapping and smiling! After that, we got to the crafts.

We painted paper fans first. I sat with a senior aunty who stamped round oranges on her fan. I helped to clean up the table and colouring supplies.

Next, we decorated tote bags with flowers. I helped peel the double-sided tape so the seniors could stick the flowers on. It was a bit tricky, but we worked together to make the bags look colorful and fancy.

Everyone was smiling and laughing the whole time. It felt so good to make the seniors happy. It was such a fun day, and I’m so glad I got to help! If you ever get a chance to do something like this, don’t miss it!
